Tasmania, Australia: Twigwater
Peter Broomhall
Hello Catch Readers,
The season is changing once again here and Springtime is in full bloom! With these warmer temps and longer days, we’re making an intentional effort to get outside more. We encourage you to take it outside as much as you can this season, too, get your Vitamin D and be inspired by whatever changes are on your horizon.
In this issue, we’ll take you outside and up close to some of the season’s best fly fishing. Experience the intricacies of the salmonfly phenomenon on Idaho’s Henry’s Fork with Robert Dotson’s essay “Salmonflies: Winged Buffalo Migration.” Also covering Idaho, Nick Price shares his photos from Silver Creek and the pursuit of springcreek rainbow trout. Head Down Under with Peter Broomhall’s essay on Tasmania’s Twigwaters. Take a trip to Cuba with Matt Harris’ essay illustrating the character, culture and catch of this island country. And don’t miss our newest contributor, Toshitaka Suzuki, who shares his photographs and perspective on the art of traditional and Tenkara fishing in Japan.
Finally, enjoy Issue #70’s T-Motion Theater video “Colorado High Country,” featuring Kelley Moen and guide Colleen Farrell as they adventure into John Denver’s Rocky Mountain territory in a quick search for springtime cutthroat trout.
John Denver’s song Season Suite has some good advice for us anglers this spring: “Open up your eyes…Open up your ears…Open up your hands…Open up your mind and let the sun shine in. The earth has been reborn and life goes on.” A new day is here, folks, just let it in.
Thanks for supporting Catch Magazine!
Tight lines and sunshine,
Kelley
