Happy Holidays!
Today we present to you a Retro Release of Issue #33. This special back issue is pulled from the vault of Catch’s nearly 20 years as the official online journal featuring the best fly fishing photography and film.
Why a Retro Release?
We wanted to revisit one of our favorite editions in the classic “coffee table” style that defined Catch Magazine from the start. Back when desktops ruled, our full-page, book-style format showcased photography at its most immersive…like flipping through a beautiful coffee table book. As readers moved to phones and tablets, we adapted. But for this special issue, we’re bringing it back. We’re offering one of our favorite editions in its original scale, grandeur, and retro style.
Reviving Issue #33 from almost 13 years ago, the Retro Release includes a stacked line-up of amazing content.
Jim Klug takes us back to the Bahamas for bonefishing the flats, and Graeme Field’s essay called “Guide’s Eye- Madagascar” gives us dramatic pictures of the island’s blue trevally and GT, just to name a few. Matt Harris brings us “Gold Fever”, one of Catch Magazine’s favorite essays covering Tsimane and highlighting the early days of his fishing photography in the high forests of southwest Bolivia.
Marlon Rampy photographs and writes about Oregon’s Klamath Basin, and Dr. Rockwell Hammond brings us “The Atlantic Salmon Fly” with macro photography of some of the world’s most astounding hand-tied flies.
Finally, this Retro Release features one of Todd Moen’s most cherished films. “Spatsizi” is the story of the late Ray Collingwood, BC bush pilot, lodge owner and family hero who inspired Todd’s filmmaking forever.
For the full Desktop Version, you’ll need a desktop computer or large monitor.
