My passion for drawing characters from comics began at the age of nine and has been a part of my life ever since. I am a graduate of Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland. After completing my studies, I returned to South Korea where I pursued a career, with my ultimate goal to design game characters.
I was fortunate enough to land a job at a video game company, where I worked for a few years before meeting my husband, Sean. We now have three daughters and have returned to New Zealand to raise our family.

My strongest and weakest strength is that I’m a strong absorber of what surrounds me and what I see in my mundane life. Even if it is repetitive and predictable, I still try to discover meaning, reason and story behind it. Since I met my husband, whose love for wildlife has motivated me, I have drawn many amazing creatures. From there, my adoption of discovering its unique characteristic has been creating my art style.
I normally use ink pens of various thicknesses and even a Sumi brush. It allows me to express a flowing balance in my unconscious mind. If you see my piece in real life, you might not see anything special in three dimensions. But if you look at it as a 2D bird’s-eye view, you can feel the pressure of the crowded lines that I pour into the surface. Time is precious; I spend a decent amount of time creating each line. I consider it not just a line, but a sharing of a piece of my life.

It’s been almost eight years since I started drawing fish, and I am still far from unlocking the undiscovered world. My passion for art and drawing has remained a constant in my life, and I am grateful for the opportunities that have allowed me to pursue my passion.
